CHESTERFIELD, Va. - A fatal crash involving an overturned dump truck caused severe traffic disruptions along Interstate 95 in Chesterfield County on Tuesday afternoon.
Virginia State Police responded to the scene at approximately 12:57 p.m. along northbound I-95 near the 58-mile marker, close to the Woods Edge Road exit. State troopers confirmed that a dump truck overturned during the incident, resulting in one fatality at the scene.
Authorities shut down the northbound lanes to allow emergency personnel, crash reconstruction teams, and recovery crews to clear the overturned vehicle and manage the scene.
Drivers were strongly advised to avoid the stretch of I-95 North and seek alternate routes, as delays and lane closures were expected to persist for an extended period. The cause of the rollover remains under investigation by the Virginia State Police.
