Dallas Fire Rescue units responded to multiple 911 calls reporting the major accident at approximately 11:08 a.m. According to police and fire officials, the semi-truck struck multiple vehicles before crashing into a wall and landing on its side. Authorities indicated that up to six vehicles may have been impacted in the wreck.
Three people were hospitalized following the crash. Officials confirmed they are in stable condition with non life threatening injuries.
The 18 wheeler was hauling diesel, resulting in a spill of approximately 170 gallons that required a HazMat response from Dallas Fire Rescue. Southbound lanes of the Dallas North Tollway were closed from Walnut Hill Lane to Northwest Highway while emergency crews cleared the scene, with the North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) managing remaining cleanup efforts to reopen the roadways.
Police and investigators are still working to determine the cause of the crash.
